Volleyball Game Preview: Cherryville Ironmen vs. North Gaston Wildcats + How To Watch

Cherryville is 6-1 against North Gaston since August of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Ironmen will host the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. North Gaston took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cherryville, who comes in off a win.

Cherryville took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Piedmont Community Charter. The victory continues a trend for the Ironmen in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Cherryville was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-12, 24-26, 25-18, 27-25.

Cherryville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Shirley, who had 12 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Shirley has posted over her last six matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Bookout, who had 15 digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Cherryville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, North Gaston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Crest.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-15, 25-11.

North Gaston's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Cherryville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

Cherryville took their win against North Gaston when the teams last played back in August by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Ironmen repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
