Basketball Recap: Mcdonald Falls to Springfield in First Game of Season

McDonald unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 54-34 to the Springfield Tigers on Monday. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Pecchia, who posted eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cierra Shiley, who earned eight points.

Regan Rogenski had a dynamite game For Springfield., shooting 47% from the field on her way to 18 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Those 18 points gave Rogenski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maren Vinkler, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points and seven boards.

Springfield has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
