Football Game Preview: Segerstrom Jaguars vs. St. Margaret's Tartans

For the first time this season, Segerstrom will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the St. Margaret's Tartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Segerstrom is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Troy just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They fell 21-13 to the Warriors. The contest marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Ayden Morales and Ethan Mundt. Mundt had a great game and rushed for 161 yards and three scores. Meanwhile, Morales did his best for the losing side, rushing for 86 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Segerstrom didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Roman Saucedo and Gabriel Vergara. Saucedo is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, St. Margaret's was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 31-30 to Laguna Hills. While the Tartans had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Hawks 9-0.

Segerstrom's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for St. Margaret's, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.

Segerstrom beat St. Margaret's 35-27 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Tartans' Kai Letcher, who rushed for 40 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 138 yards on 12 of 25 attempts.
