Softball Game Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Mission Hills Grizzlies

The Bonita Vista Barons will face off against the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bonita Vista 1.9, Mission Hills 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Bonita Vista is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Mar Vista get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Barons have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Noelle Kalavi tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Danica Aboytes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ambriz, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Bonita Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Mission Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Grossmont by a score of 4-3.

Lillian Sengsouly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mission Hills' loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Bonita Vista, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Bonita Vista skirted past Mission Hills 5-4 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Does Bonita Vista have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mission Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
