Baseball Recap: Thornwell Takes a Loss

Thornwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 14-1 to the Ware Shoals Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-2 last Tuesday.

Thornwell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffen Raines, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. That hit marked the first that Raines got this season.

Thornwell's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Ware Shoals, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornwell will challenge McCormick at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ware Shoals, they will take on Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dixie will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Ware Shoals surely won't give up without a fight.
