Softball Recap: Ballinger Bearcats vs. Coleman Bluecats

After flying high against Sonora last Friday, Ballinger came back down to earth. The Ballinger Bearcats fell just short of the Coleman Bluecats by a score of 7-6 on Thursday. The Bearcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Bluecats from their previous meeting back in April of 2015.

Jennah Halfmann put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Halfmann was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Olivia Aguilera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Medrano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Ballinger's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Coleman, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, Ballinger will be playing in front of their home fans against Winters at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coleman, they will head out on the road to face off against Bangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
