Softball Game Preview: Plainfield North Tigers vs. Oswego Panthers

Plainfield North is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Oswego is on a 17-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Thursday, Plainfield North needed a bit of extra time to put away Plainfield Central. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, Oswego faced Lincoln-Way East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Griffins.

Jaelynn Anthony spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Oswego's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kiyah Chavez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Plainfield North has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Oswego, their win bumped their record up to 25-1.
