Baseball Game Preview: Grace Academy Knights vs. Berkeley Springs Indians

The Grace Academy Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Berkeley Springs Indians at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grace Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Berkeley Springs will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Grace Academy extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Knights put the hurt on Cumberland Valley Christian with a sharp 12-2 win.

Connor Earley and Jaeden Peterson were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Earley pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Meanwhile, Peterson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Earley went 1-for-3 with one run and one double, while Peterson went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Peterson has become a key player for Grace Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 3-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Austin Sweeney was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Michael Berry was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Berkeley Springs fell victim to Keyser and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Tornado.

Berkeley Springs' loss dropped their record down to 3-26. As for Grace Academy, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything went Grace Academy's way against Berkeley Springs in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Grace Academy made off with a 13-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
