Preview: Daingerfield Tigers vs. West Rusk Raiders
After two games on the road, Daingerfield is heading back home. They will take on the West Rusk Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Daingerfield had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 33-6 win over Hooks on the road. The result was nothing new for Daingerfield, who have now won eight contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, West Rusk waltzed into Friday's game with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past New Diana with points to spare, taking the game 50-35.
West Rusk's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cole Jackson, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns, and Noah Murphy, who rushed for 185 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Murphy was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Ty Harper got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Daingerfield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for West Rusk, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Daingerfield took their win against West Rusk when the teams last played back in November of 2021 by a conclusive 50-28. Will Daingerfield repeat their success, or does West Rusk have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
