Softball Recap: Middlesex Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Middlesex got themselves on the board against Chincoteague on Friday, but Chincoteague never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Ponies with a sharp 15-0 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Magen Daniels was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kayleigh Moye was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Libby Oliver also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Middlesex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chincoteague only posted an OBP of .118.

Middlesex is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chincoteague, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.

Coming up, Middlesex will welcome Mathews at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chincoteague, they are taking a road trip to face off against Salisbury Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Chincoteague is facing Salisbury Christian at the right time seeing as Salisbury Christian is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
