Baseball Game Preview: Port Edwards Blackhawks vs. Pittsville Panthers

Port Edwards is 1-9 against Pittsville since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Blackhawks will take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m.

Port Edwards lost 11-1 to Pacelli on Thursday.

Port Edwards saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynden Beck, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Beck is becoming a predictor of the Blackhawks' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 6-2 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Pittsville came out on top against Wild Rose on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was Pittsville's third in a row) raised their record to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Port Edwards, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Port Edwards might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Pittsville when the teams last played back in April. Can the Blackhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
