Kendall Cochran was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nina Montenegro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Payton Westra was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.
Red Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Skyline fell victim to Mountain View and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Toros.
Red Mountain pushed their record up to 5-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Skyline's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Red Mountain has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Skyline, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will Red Mountain keep running through batters, or will Skyline buck the trend?
Red Mountain took their win against Skyline in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-0. Does Red Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Skyline turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
