Basketball Game Preview: Memphis Cyclones vs. Panhandle Panthers

Memphis is 2-7 against Panhandle since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Memphis Cyclones will welcome the Panhandle Panthers at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Memphis lost to Clarendon on the road by a 64-50 margin.

Memphis' defeat came about despite a quality game from Armando Saenz, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points along with seven boards and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Abel Villa, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Panhandle entered their tilt with Highland Park on Friday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They blew past the Hornets, posting a 67-35 win. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 637th, while the Hornets are ranked 1364th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Panhandle's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Memphis, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
