Preview: Frostproof Bulldogs vs. Lake Placid Dragons
The Frostproof Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Lake Placid Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Frostproof comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Frostproof suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Fort Meade 53-17. Frostproof was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Despite the loss, Frostproof had strong showings from Shalayjah Robey, who scored eight points, and Julissa Becerra, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 22% better than the opposition, a fact Lake Placid proved on Monday. They strolled past Hardee with points to spare, taking the game 44-29.
It was another big night for Antranique Felton, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds. Felton is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Ke'Nise Madison was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Frostproof's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Lake Placid, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Frostproof was dealt a bruising 48-6 defeat at the hands of Lake Placid in their previous meeting back in November of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Felton, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
