On Tuesday, Tascosa faced Monterey in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Tascosa Rebels took a hard 60-44 fall against the Monterey Plainsmen. The Rebels' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

It was another big night for Aaliyah Chavez, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 boards for Monterey. Chavez has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 32 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Johnson Ari, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and seven blocks.

Tascosa's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 26-4. As for Monterey, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 29-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Amarillo the next time they take the court. Tascosa will host Amarillo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Monterey will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th.
