Preview: Columbus East Olympians vs. East Central Trojans
The Columbus East Olympians will head out on the road to face off against the East Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbus East is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Columbus East suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Jeffersonville on the road and fell 77-43. Columbus East has struggled against Jeffersonville recently, as their contest on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Columbus East saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Danny Coriden, who scored nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Jack Fischvogt was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, East Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 52-48 to Harrison.
Columbus East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for East Central, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Columbus East couldn't quite finish off East Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 47-45. Can Columbus East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
