Baseball Recap: Peabody Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ripley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Peabody). They blew past the Ripley Tigers 20-8 on Wednesday. The Golden Tide might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jamarcus Haynes, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden McClellan, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Haynes wasn't the only one making solid contact: Peabody kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Peabody has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Ripley, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peabody will welcome McKenzie at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ripley, they will be playing at home against Haywood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Tomcats at the right time seeing as the Tomcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
