Volleyball Recap: Columbus North Falls Despite Big Games from Yoki Murabayashi and Kota Kondo

Columbus North lost against Columbus East back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bull Dogs fell just short of the Olympians by a score of 3-2. While the Bull Dogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Olympians 25-21 in the first set.

Columbus North started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-15, 15-9.

Columbus North's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kota Kondo, who had 37 assists and 16 digs, and Yoki Murabayashi, who had 21 digs. Kondo has been hot, having posted 15 or more assists the last five times he's played. Parth Shah was another key player, getting 14 digs and one assist.

Columbus North has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Columbus East, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-14.

Columbus North wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Terre Haute North Vigo on the 3rd. As for Columbus East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Madison on the 6th.
