Basketball Game Preview: Cleveland Heights Tigers vs. Lakewood Rangers

The Cleveland Heights Tigers will head out to face off against the Lakewood Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cleveland Heights easily dispatched John Hay two weeks ago, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Cleveland Heights fell just short of Shaker Heights by a score of 44-42 on Friday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite their defeat, Cleveland Heights saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Robbie Caldwell, who posted ten points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Sanai Alexander, who put up ten points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakewood). They were the clear victor by a 61-37 margin over Buckeye on Saturday. The Rangers pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bucks had little chance of recovering from.

Cleveland Heights' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Cleveland Heights didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Lakewood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 60-55 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cleveland Heights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
