Soccer Game Preview: Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy vs. Academy for Academic Excellence

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy will challenge the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Excelsior Charter 2-1.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Academy for Academic Excellence was forced to settle for a draw on Tuesday. They and Palmdale Academy Charter School finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

Academy for Academic Excellence's goal came courtesy of Isaac Murcia, who's now up to four this season.

With that draw, Academy for Academic Excellence's record moves to 4-5-2. As for Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5-2.

Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy beat Academy for Academic Excellence 3-1 when the teams last played back in January of 2024.
