Baseball Recap: San Mateo Wins Going Away Against Lincoln

San Mateo barely beat Lincoln the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The San Mateo Bearcats put the hurt on the Lincoln Mustangs with a sharp 9-1 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Christian Louie made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Julian Bleess was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Neel Sardesai, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

San Mateo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for San Mateo and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, San Mateo will venture away from home to face off against Sacred Heart Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln, they have already played their next contest, a 10-2 win against Mission on the 6th.
