Basketball Game Preview: Providence Academy Lions vs. Temple Christian Watchmen

The Providence Academy Lions will face off against the Temple Christian Watchmen at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Providence Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Last Saturday, Providence Academy humbled Greenville Christian with a 54-12 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Providence Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Clay, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points and six steals. Clay is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Piper McIlrath, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Temple Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 45-8 loss at the hands of Grayson Christian.

Providence Academy pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Temple Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
