Basketball Recap: Dynamic duo of Javian Jones and Ransom Soles lead King's Academy to victory

Basketball Recap: King's Academy Lions vs. Forest Hill Falcons

The King's Academy Lions won the last time they faced the Forest Hill Falcons, and things went their way on Thursday too. King's Academy strolled past the Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 71-54. Given King's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Falcons are ranked 474th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

King's Academy was led to victory by Javian Jones and Ransom Soles. Jones dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Soles went 9 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 1 assist. Jones hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games. Matt Mcpherson was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Forest Hill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Travis Mcintyre, who scored 14 points, and Liunor Fernandez who scored 13 points.

King's Academy's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Forest Hill, they dropped their record down to 8-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

King's Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. John Carroll Catholic is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Forest Hill, they will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellington will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
