Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is New London's Fifth in Last Six Outings

New London's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Xavier Hawks by a score of 8-3. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Hawks back in April, they had to take a 9-5 loss.

Ellie Winkelman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eve Hedtke, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last seven games. Erin O'Donoghue was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

New London is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Xavier, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. New London will take on rival West De Pere at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Xavier is set to challenge their familiar foe Seymour at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
