Softball Recap: Providence Hall Comes Up Short

Providence Hall and Richfield squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Providence Hall had to settle for second. They fell 6-2 to the Wildcats. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 13-8 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Nena Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Providence Hall saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Lenz, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Providence Hall's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Richfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-17 record this season.

As of now, neither Providence Hall nor Richfield have any future games scheduled.
