Basketball Game Preview: Mead Mavericks vs. Niwot Cougars

The Mead Mavericks will head out on the road to square off against the Niwot Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mead is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Mead is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Frederick: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mead blew Frederick out of the water with a 54-19 final score. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-10.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madi Clark, who went 7 of 9 en route to 18 points and three steals. Darby Haley was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 13 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Niwot had to suffer through a 56-17 loss at the hands of Centaurus. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost four in a row.

Mead pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Niwot, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Mead beat Niwot 43-30 in their previous meeting back in December of 2017. Does Mead have another victory up their sleeve, or will Niwot turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
