Volleyball Recap: Jenison Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Marian

Jenison faced Marian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Jenison's offense was headlined by Karis Chatfield and Ava Bush-Nelson, who picked up eight kills apiece. They got some help from Cora Rotman and her 20 assists.

Marian found their leader in sophomore Ashlyn Pelon, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Jenison's defeat dropped their record down to 34-5-2. As for Marian, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 40-4.

Jenison didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Lowell on the 25th. As for Marian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Bloomfield Hills on the 25th.
