Baseball Game Preview: Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions vs. Miami Christian Victors

The Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions will venture away from home to take on the Miami Christian Victors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Immaculata-La Salle's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Miami Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Immaculata-La Salle took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Archbishop Carroll, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Immaculata-La Salle skirted past Archbishop Carroll 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Royal Lions have posted since April 18, 2024.

The result came thanks to Derrick Paz's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Immaculata-La Salle's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in stolen bases. Gianni Farach also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Miami Christian had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Ferguson by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday.

Immaculata-La Salle has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Miami Christian's record is now 7-9.

Immaculata-La Salle came out on top in a nail-biter against Miami Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2018, sneaking past 8-6. Will Immaculata-La Salle repeat their success, or does Miami Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
