Pollok Central waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They skirted past the Diboll Lumberjacks 33-31. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 568th, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 1193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pollok Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Matthews, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 13 points and four steals. Matthews is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Law Shaver, who posted six points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Pollok Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Diboll's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrece Mcmillan, who had nine points and three steals. Jaydan Miller was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Pollok Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-10. As for Diboll, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Pollok Central will challenge Orangefield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pollok Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season. As for Diboll, they will face off against Huntington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
