Softball Recap: Oil City Takes a Loss

Oil City lost against Rocky Grove back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Oil City took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rocky Grove. The Oilers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shalyn Whittemore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Libbie Arnink also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Oil City's record now sits at 1-3. Rocky Grove has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oil City will host Warren at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Rocky Grove, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
