Baseball Recap: Argo Comes Up Short

Argo had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 6-23 to make it five. They lost 18-0 to the Reavis Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.

As for Reavis, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

For Reavis' part, Juan Avila made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Avila has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Jonathan Liesen was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with five RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Parker Zasada was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Reavis beat Argo by a score of 18-0 later that day.
