Softball Recap: Hellgate Knights vs. Butte Bulldogs

Hellgate extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-7. They lost 11-3 to the Butte Bulldogs. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Hellgate saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaelynn Hopfauf, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Nat Blaney also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

As for Butte, they now have a winning record of 3-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Butte's side, Brea Henderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Henderson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mattie Stepan was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brittyn Klima, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Coincidentally, Hellgate and Butte will both be playing Big Sky the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Knights will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
