It's playoff time, and Key West had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the South Miami Cobras on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-0 win. Winning may never get old, but the Conchs sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
The result came thanks to Jon Carlos Lampas-Gormley's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Caden Pichardo was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Maltz, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Key West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Key West's record now sits at 17-9. As for South Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11-1.
Looking ahead, Key West will square off against Belen Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. South Miami does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
