Soccer Game Preview: Monte Vista vs. Mt. Carmel

The Monte Vista Monarchs are taking a road trip to challenge the Mt. Carmel Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monte Vista's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Monte Vista is headed into the match having not lost since December 16 and will look to keep things rolling. They and Eastlake finished up their contest with a 2-2 draw on Monday. That draw made it four straight for the Monarchs.

Miguel Gomez and Daniel Baca scored both of Monte Vista's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Carmel). They put the hurt on Mission Vista with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday.

Monte Vista's draw gives them a new season record of 4-5-4. As for Mt. Carmel, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5-2.

Monte Vista took their win against Mt. Carmel when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monte Vista since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
