Basketball Recap: Salmen Starts Season with Win Against Walker

Salmen gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They breezed past the Walker Wildcats to the tune of 95-66. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bj Matthews was a one-man wrecking crew as he went 10-for-15 en route to 26 points and four steals. Kendall Vontoure was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Salmen and D'Iberville will face off at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Walker, they will venture away from home to challenge Port Allen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
