Baseball Game Preview: Dos Pueblos Chargers vs. Grace Lancers

The Dos Pueblos Chargers will face off against the Grace Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dos Pueblos has five straight victories, Grace has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dos Pueblos lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Oxnard, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Chargers blew past the Yellowjackets 9-2 on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Chargers have beaten the Yellowjackets on their field since April 5, 2017.

Seth Tedeschi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shane Grant was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Grace's offense. They came up short against Thacher on Tuesday, falling 10-0. The shutout was out of character for the Lancers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Grace saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Barrett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Grace now has a losing record of 7-8-2. As for Dos Pueblos, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

Dos Pueblos took their victory against Grace in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
