Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Winters Mill Falcons
The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Winters Mill with points to spare, taking the game 52-35. 52 seems to be a good number for Hammond as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Hammond's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sara Yarnell led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Yarnell hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Alexis Wright was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Hammond pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Winters Mill, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond will challenge River Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (River Hill is ranked 50th, while Hammond is ranked 24th). Winters Mill won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Francis Scott Key at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
