Preview: Gibault Catholic Hawks vs. Saxony Lutheran Crusaders
The Gibault Catholic Hawks will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on January 13th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Gibault Catholic earned a 47-40 victory over Chester.
Meanwhile, Saxony Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Valle Catholic 78-27 on the road. That 51 points margin sets a new team best for Saxony Lutheran this season.
Saxony Lutheran's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Owen Bucheit, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Luke Eggemeyer, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Eggemeyer is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. John Hartmann was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and three steals.
The victory got Gibault Catholic back to even at 10-10. As for Saxony Lutheran, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.
Gibault Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Saxony Lutheran when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 50-41. Will Gibault Catholic repeat their success, or does Saxony Lutheran have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
