Softball Recap: Rockledge's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eau Gallie, Rockledge was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Space Coast Vipers by a score of 8-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Haley Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Haylie Miller and Aubrey Rhoades did most of the damage at the plate: Miller scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Rhoades scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs Miller has posted since back in March. Gizelle Arteaga was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Rockledge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Space Coast struck out seven times.

Rockledge's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Space Coast, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Coming up, Rockledge will venture away from home to challenge Astronaut at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the War Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Space Coast, they will host Melbourne Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
