Softball Game Preview: Weir Red Riders vs. Madonna Blue Dons

Weir has won three straight games at home, while Madonna has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Red Riders will welcome the Blue Dons at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Weir's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Saturday, when they got past Station Camp's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Red Riders blew past the Bison 14-2.

Meanwhile, Madonna made easy work of East Liverpool on Thursday and carried off a 13-2 win. The Blue Dons haven't had any issues with the Potters recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kendall Ryan spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Madi Owens was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Chloe Orecchio was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Madonna kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Madonna's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Weir, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.

Weir took their win against Madonna in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Red Riders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Dons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
