Basketball Recap: Latta Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Latta dropped to 2-2 on Thursday, ending the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 43-37 to the Dillon Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 69-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Despite the loss, Latta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aliyah Tisdale dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tisdale has scored all season. Ke'Nyah Page also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

As for Dillon, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points on average over those games.

Dillon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khw-Nylahi McKinnon, who shot 40% from the field en route to 16 points and five steals. McKinnon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. Treasure Davis was another key player, putting up 17 points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

Latta didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-38 victory against Chesterfield on the 12th. As for Dillon, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-52 win against Marion on the 13th.
