Softball Recap: Miami Country Day Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

There's no place like home for Miami Country Day, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Mater Lakes Academy Bears on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Collins Ames made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Frankie Kleinberger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Miami Country Day's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami Country Day will face off against Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they will challenge Goleman at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
