Volleyball Recap: Mansfield Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Aledo

Mansfield faced Aledo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bearcats. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bearcats: they've now lost four in a row.

MC Crutcher paced Mansfield's offense, picking up six kills. Crutcher got some help from Emery Thomson and her 11 assists. Crutcher also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Catey Jane Mills, racking up two apiece.

Aledo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karsyn Evans out in front who had nine digs and one assist.

Mansfield's defeat dropped their record down to 16-1. As for Aledo, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Mansfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Birdville on the 23rd. As for Aledo, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Canyon on the 23rd.
