Basketball Game Preview: Goddard Rockets vs. Tucumcari Rattlers

The Goddard Rockets will head out to challenge the Tucumcari Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Goddard will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Roswell, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Goddard managed a 51-45 victory over Roswell on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Meanwhile, Tucumcari had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 41-37 W over the Hawks.

Tucumcari pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Goddard, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Goddard took their victory against Tucumcari in their previous matchup back in January of 2020 by a conclusive 66-41. In that contest, Goddard amassed a halftime lead of 39-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
