Softball Recap: Mountain Grove Victorious

Mountain Grove proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Plato Eagles 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

The team relied heavily on Gabby Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton O'Connor, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Mountain Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Mountain Grove back to even at 7-7. As for Plato, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Mountain Grove is taking a road trip to face off against Ava at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Plato, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-1 loss against Norwood on the 11th.
