Basketball Game Preview: Calvary Day Cavaliers vs. Long County Blue Tide

Calvary Day has gone 5-0 against Long County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Calvary Day Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Long County Blue Tide at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Calvary Day took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They breezed by Beach to the tune of 62-32. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Calvary Day had a senior duo take command as Destini Gooddine dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds and Bre Jones went 6 for 12 en route to 13 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. With that strong performance, Gooddine is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Amahni Owens, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Calvary Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Long County). They skirted past Groves 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Tide have posted since February 6, 2024.

Calvary Day's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Long County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.

Calvary Day strolled past Long County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 44-28. Does Calvary Day have another victory up their sleeve, or will Long County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
