Softball Game Preview: Wilcox Chargers vs. King's Academy Knights

The Wilcox Chargers will face off against the King's Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilcox will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Wilcox is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Homestead on Tuesday. The Chargers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 3, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Samantha Bianchi, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted over her last three matchups. Another player making a difference was Makaila Butler, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Bianchi wasn't the only one making solid contact: Wilcox kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Homestead only managed eight hits.

Meanwhile, King's Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Carlmont back in March and fell 6-5.

Mia Bennette was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Bella Giles was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Wilcox's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-10. As for King's Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Wilcox has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like King's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
