Recap: Burke Bulldogs vs. Omaha Northwest Huskies
The Burke Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They snuck past Omaha Northwest with a 75-69 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Burke to victory were Ryan Rummel and Arieon Mcclain. Rummel scored 22 points along with three steals, while Mcclain scored 24 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcclain has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Collins, who scored six points.
Despite the loss, Omaha Northwest still got an impressive performance from Chiok John, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. John also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Dontae McDowell, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Burke's win ended a 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Omaha Northwest, they bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Burke will take on Bellevue East at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Bellevue East is ranked 215th, while Burke is ranked 232nd). As for Omaha Northwest, they will head out on the road to take on Bryan at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
