The Granite Hills Cougars will face off against The Webb Schools Gauls at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Granite Hills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Granite Hills will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against San Gorgonio on Tuesday. In other batting news, Granite Hills let Travon Jackson Jr and Aiden Vasquez run wild. Jackson Jr scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Vasquez scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Campos, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Granite Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Gorgonio only posted a batting average of .160.
Meanwhile, The Webb Schools was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of California Lutheran. That's two games in a row now that the Gauls have lost by exactly two runs.
Alec Kaushal was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Granite Hills' victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for The Webb Schools, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
The Webb Schools' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Granite Hills has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for The Webb Schools, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits.
