Northern Lights recap Oct. 9, 2012

Soldotna extended the longest winning streak in Northern Lights this week by beating Kodiak, 62-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Stars.

Soldotna took down the Bears 62-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Homer and Galen Brantley's team. The Mariners comes into the matchup ranked 13th in the state, while the Stars ranks fifth.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Homer takes on Soldotna. Camron Wyatt's team has allowed 125 points this season, while the Stars have given up 112. The Mariners allowed 26 points last week as they defeated Thunder Mountain.

Homer made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,057 from 6,390. The improvement was the result of 44-26 victory over the Falcons last week.
